What it is
The icon at the top-left of the audio recording screen is the Mic details button (also called the clipping indicator). Please refers to the below attachment. It shows which microphone you're recording with and explains how to keep your levels healthy.
Why it matters: watch for the red pulse
You don't need to open anything to stay in the safe zone. While you record, if your sound is too loud, the Mic details button pulses red. Refers to the below screenshot. That's your signal that the mic is overloading (distorting). When it pulses red:
- Move the mic (or your phone) farther from the sound source.
- Lower the volume of what you're recording, or step back.
- The pulse stops once your levels return to a healthy range.
Recording while it's pulsing red can bake distortion into your track that can't be fully removed later - so adjust before you continue.
What's on the Mic details screen
Tap the Mic details button any time to open it. You'll see:
- Which mic is active — Bottom Mic, Rear Mic, or External Input (e.g. a wired or wireless mic). Handy for confirming your mic is actually being used.
