What is Intelligent Search?
Intelligent Search lets you find tracks by what's actually in them - not just their file name or hashtags. When enabled, you can search by:
- Transcribed words – any word spoken in a track's audio
- On-screen video content – text/objects/visuals appearing in a video, even if the track has no audio
- Sentiment – the overall mood of a track (positive, negative, neutral, or mixed)
Notes:
- As of August 2026, Intelligent Search is available on Dolby On iOS app from v2.0 only. Access will be enabled only for a randomly selected cohort of users as part of the phased rollout.
- Search activates once you enter at least 3 characters.
- Intelligent Search results only include tracks that have already been indexed. See the Transcribe FAQ for details on how transcription works.
- Transcribe is automatically enabled alongside Intelligent Search - no separate setup needed.
How do I enable Intelligent Search?
After updating the app, a New features popup appears on the main audio screen:
- Agree – Both features are enabled immediately.
- Disagree – You're taken to Settings, where a tooltip points to the Intelligent Search toggle so you can enable it later.
You can also enable Intelligent Search at any time via Settings → Intelligent Search.
Once the Intelligent Search toggle is on, the app automatically uploads tracks to the server (up to 6 tracks per day) in the background. As each track is processed and indexed, it becomes searchable via Intelligent Search.
